Colleagues from the Library and Special Collections, and members of staff from the School of Law, gathered together on 24th April to say goodbye to Lin Masson, Senior Information Assistant in the Taylor Library.
Lin was born in Edinburgh but moved to Aberdeen to do an HND at Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology. Her first job was in the Commercial College Library and it was here that she met her future husband Keith, so you could say that libraries have played an important part in her life in more ways than one. After having two daughters, Lin went to work in Westhill Public Library.
On the 6th of November 1995, Lin came to work at Taylor Library and she was convinced that part of the reason she got the job was because they needed someone tall to reach the top shelves! Lin has always been popular with the students, is easy going (unless there’s a misplaced apostrophe on display), and maintains a healthy sense of humour.
Over the past 18 years, Lin has seen many students graduate and now it’s time for her to fly the coup. Her family are all grown up and Lin will now have time to devote to her many interests, including hillwalking. She will now have time to lead a few more excursions with the Westhill Walkers.
We will miss Lin but we have a feeling that she might just come back and see us from time to time. All her colleagues and friends send their best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
