IALS library membership for all research postgraduates and academic staff

IALS_logoDid you know that you can become a member of the IALS Global Law Library?

The Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Global Law Library (Russell Square, London) is the repository of an extensive law collection of over 300,000 texts.  The Library welcomes membership applications from legal professionals and researchers from anywhere in the world. Postgraduate students (MPhil and PhD), academic teaching staff and librarians may register with the IALS Global Law Library for free. Books from the main collection may be borrowed until the next day, and may be renewed offsite a maximum of three times. Researchers, professionals and librarians can also access certain databases offsite. Some of the databases accessible: British Company Law Library, Justis.com, Oxford Reports on International Law, Oxford Scholarship Online (Law). Please see here for details.

All databases can be accessed onsite.

Taught postgraduates from outside the University of London are only admitted when they are working on their dissertation. The taught part of the course needs to have been completed for students to be admitted. Access is for a week and free. Students can’t take books outside the library and can’t access any databases offsite. Pop ins also welcome!

For further information, please see: How to become a member on the IALS website.

Also, did you know that you can check current legal research topics on the IALS website?
IALS are trying to list all subjects of ongoing research (PhD) across the UK including the researcher’s name and institution they are registered with. You can search the  CLRT database by title words, subject, name or University. Please note that details are removed from the database once the dissertations are published.

We hope you find this information useful!
